Founded in 2020, Doc’s Diesel is a rapidly growing provider of high-performance diesel maintenance products. Known for their commitment to quality, fast shipping, and customer service, they needed a digital platform that could scale with their growth while providing an optimized user experience for both retail and wholesale customers.
Doc’s Diesel faced several key challenges that affected both customer experience and operational efficiency. Customers struggled to find the correct parts due to a complex navigation structure, and the site lacked a Year/Make/Model compatibility tool, making it difficult to identify compatible parts. Additionally, the company had no dedicated B2B platform with features like automated fulfillment, tiered pricing, or tax-exempt flagging. As the business expanded, scalability concerns emerged, necessitating a more future-proof solution.
I don’t like building on top of something that isn’t built right to begin with. We looked at a few apps for Year Make Model fitment, but none gave us full control or scalability. So we built our own middleware—clean, efficient, and fully integrated with Shopify. It not only filters parts accurately, it also runs logic directly on the product page to confirm compatibility in real time. This reduces returns, saves support time, and makes the experience better for everyone. Most important, it’s maintainable. The client can add new vehicle data without touching the core system. That’s engineering I can stand behind. - Menil, Head of Development
We implemented a custom Year/Make/Model middleware that allowed users to easily filter parts based on their vehicle selection. To support wholesale operations, we developed a dedicated B2B storefront with automated tax exemption, specialized pricing tiers, and bulk purchasing options. The Shopify Plus framework was optimized to improve performance, ensuring the site could scale with the company’s growth. Smart automation tools were integrated to streamline order fulfillment, tax compliance, and discounts, enhancing operational efficiency.
The newly designed site resulted in a 73% increase in online store sessions and an 80% growth in total sales. Total orders increased by 66%, while the average order value rose by 8%. Additionally, the returning customer rate saw an 8% improvement. The streamlined vehicle compatibility tool, optimized navigation, and improved B2B functionality significantly enhanced the customer journey and positioned Doc’s Diesel for sustained growth in the diesel aftermarket space.
By leveraging custom middleware development, UX enhancements, and B2B optimization, we delivered a scalable Shopify Plus solution tailored to both retail and wholesale buyers. This project showcases our ability to solve complex e-commerce challenges with strategic technical solutions that drive measurable results.
